Hello, my name is Charles Oduk, my friends also call me Prince, I am Kenyan based in Nairobi. I am a univeristy graduate with Bachelor of Science in Mechatronic Engineer, from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Kenya in 2017. I am techie, innovator with ambitions and aspiration to be an established renown Mechatronics engineer globally.
I am the sole founder, owner and director Prince Automation and Innovation Company (PAIC): a tech-startup company aimed at solving Africa's problems by improving lives through technology. I found the company back in 2013 when I was a second year in campus. I had a dream to change my country's ways of solving problems through technology. My vision by this time wasn't only about my passion for engineering but also for the love of helping people in the process.
I however didn't have enough resources to jumpstart PAIC, at this time it was also very difficult to get a quorum who would listen to a 2nd year pitch about a tech company in a country regarded inferior in technology in the world map. I carried on though! I became innovative and brought projects to life one after another, with time the number of ears that wanted to listen kept on rising up,it has since proved to be the right course. Today I could boast of over 20 products, services and Works-in-services, a couple of interested investors and endorsements with iconic business persons in the country, as the company is slowly rising to life.
Currently am a Entrepreneur-In-Residence at a company called Africa's Talking based in Nairobi. I am also working on my company as an 'incubated company founder' at the same place.
Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya and an economic leader in East and Central Africa. It has an amazing view from the sky and the weather here is just amazing. However, FabLab Winam is based in Kisumu which is about 350 kilometers away from Nairobi. I will be travelling there(FabLab Winam) occassionaly for my FabAcademy 2019 practicals and fabricate some parts for my project.
Fablab Winam offers a hub for sharing ideas, tools and other resources by makers, Artisans (Jua Kali), professionals, educators, students, entrepreneurs, learning institutions, hobbyists, kids etc. It taps into gaps between classroom-learnt skills and market needs experiences to build products that address challenges and emphasizes on local manufacturing using emerging tech-based trends like IoT. Based in Western Kenya region in Kisumu where there are just a few industries, the Fablab Winam will be keen on using people-centred design approaches for socio-economic challenges and incubation.
We are constantly learning, but individual skills of each person of the team meet the different demands, contributing to the growth and development of projects.
