Final Project Idea

Hello everyone,
In the first week of Fab Academy we had our first lecture ,during this time all the Fab nodes introduced themselves.

The assignment for this week was to sketch the idea of our final project on notebook,and just brief it,so I am giving details about my project here

I am going to make " Biometric Smart Key security System" at vigyan Ashram

°Problem & Need:

We have existing key holder at Vigyan Ashram as shown in above image ,we have some problems with existing system

1.We have number of key of different labs,and currently we have to maintain their database manually.

2.Currently we are unable to trace which keys are issued by whom?

2.Unable to trace missing keys.

4.Available key security systems at market costs more.

°Overall goal toward Solution:

We can provide some automated system for data logging and tracing by installing kind of Biometric system so,we can solve this problem of key tracing by own.

°Concept:

We have idea about the product Biometric system there are many systems available in market based on different sensing technology, like Biometric attendance system, Door lock system,etc.. I am gonna make it compact by using my own controller,I will interface Fingurprint sensor,keypad as well as LCD display to make it automated and user freiendly.so looking over many advantages and simplicity of this I choose as my Fab project

°What I am gonna make ?

Laser cutter box + Frame + Automation

°Which Fab process i will use?:

1.For designing and simulation of my project sketch I am using CAD software"Solidworks"

2.For making my external frame I will use workshop tools like welding machine ,cut of saw,grinder etc

3.For cutting my frame covers I will use"Laser Cutter"

4.For making my door hinges and fingerprint sensor mount I will use "3D printer"

5.As well I will make my own Programmer,Input ,Output board for programming and interfacing

°Why only this System ? And what will be benefits for user?

1. Because it will cost low,and it is prior need at our place.

2.keys tracing will be easy

3.It is handy and user friendly

4.No need of maintainance

5.Digitization can also provide previous database

°(As a product) Where this System can be used ?

NGO like Vigyan Ashram,Schools,Small scale industries,etc

My challenges for this projects are

1. To reduce the price of the Key security system

2.To make it user friendly and handy

3. To automate the whole system for reducing manual effort

°How do I plan for achieve this goal?

For developing my project I decided I will cover my project part step by step alongwith assignments,for achieving this time line I made "Giant Chart"as below
