Project Development
Assignment 20
Individual Assignment:
- Complete your final project, tracking your progress and document it:
As we know that the Fabacademy 2018 course is about to end , and the last step is to complete final project . For the final project, it is really necessary to keep the track of progress; the tasks completed, remaining taks , and the planning for completing the project.
What is the deadline? How much time do I have left?
- The hardware part of my project is almost complete, the only remaining part is that i have to work on the stepper motor to extrude the wire properly. I will complete this task till June 10. The Final Project Documentation is also in process and I will complete it very soon before 12 June 2018.
What tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?
For my final project, I have completed the following tasks:
- The PCB boards (For Input buttons, LCD Display and Leonardo) for Wire Cutter are ready and in working condition
- The 3D Printed parts for holding the Cutter ready and fixed in circuit
- The Laser cut White Acrylic as the project base is ready
- Programming for setting the positin of stepper and extruder is also set.
Following tasks need to be completed
- Fixing the stepper motor for extruding the wire properly
What has worked? what hasn't?
The tasks done so far are given below:
- Electronics Production is completed
- 3D Design is completed
- Laser Cut is completed
- 3D Printed parts are ready
- Programming is completed
Following parts need to be worked on:
- Accuracy of the extruder of wire cutter
- Final Project Documentation
What questions need to be resolved?
Although my final project is a really simple one, but what matters the most is the accuracy of the wire cutter. So, I need to find out the ways to make my wire cutter fast and accurate. In addition to this, I am planing to control the wire cutter from a remote place and for that I need to search for the suitable wireless mechanism and the application for its interfacing and controlling.
What will happen when?
I have completed moat of the work of my final project, I will follow the following schedule to complete the remaining tasks:
- Set the wire extruder by 9 june 2018
- Final project documentation by 11 June 2018
- Make the Final Demo Video and Slide by 12 June 2018
What have you learned?
I have done my bachelors in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Electronics, So belonging to this background , I am really happy that I got the golden opportunity to pursue the Fab Lab Diploma , here at the First Fab Lab of Pakistan-Fab Lab Khairpur operated by Sukkur IBA University I have learned many skills during this diploma course, which I only used to watch in videos on facebook. I have been really keen of 3D printing technology, the latest fabrication tools and how they are changing the world around us. The skills learnt during this course are listed below:
- 3D Modeling:This is the most necessary skill that I was lacking in at the start of the course, but now I can make the 3D and 2D designs easily on Solidworks, Rhinoceros, and Inkscape respectively. check the Pageto see what I have been makinf so far using this skill
- 3D Printing and Laser cut: these are my favorite jobs, I made many coll things for our lab apart from the assignments, check the Pageto see what I have been makinf so far using this skill.
- Electronics Production: This was not that much tough for me, but even then I learned a lot by making different cicruits and completing differet modules like Page , Page
- Computer Controlled Cutting: The giant machine - Shopbot is really intresting , but one needs to be very careful while working on it. I made furniture in
- Molding and Casting This is really fun, and I learned about different types of molding and casting. My colleagues really liked SuperMan made by me using Silicon rubber mold and casting it with plastic and Bismuth metal
- Programming: This is also one of the skills I already learned during my bachelors, but by making different circuits , I enhanced my programming skills.
