Week 1: Final Project - Hybrid analog-electronic toy piano.
My final project will be a hack to an old toy piano which will transform it into a hybrid analog-electronic musical device.
The project will require swapping out all or part of the base with a clear acrylic replacement...
... and creating a custom strike-plate that incorporates either sensors or embedded buttons, which can interface with an external source for elctronically stored or generated sound files.
Ideally, the new acrylic base will house the circuit boards and other essential components to create a visually-captivating presentation when the device is inverted.
Additional modifications may include use of the vinyl and/or laser cutters to create replacement key faces or striking mechanisms.
