Week 19 - Project Development
Assignment: complete your final project, tracking your progress
what tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?
The framework around the phone is done, the phone box itself and all the parts are ready. The most important thing now is to work on the programming. I have gotten a flowchart for all the programs which will be four in total.
what has worked? what hasn't?
I am very happy with the design of the box, the bells are not exactly as I pictured them, but they are only essential for the look and don't have any practical purpose. My plan after the academy is to go to the local foundery and try out some things with 3d printed part and hope I can make metal bells. I am also quite happy with the fact that all of the parts are built in the lab and I managed to put most skills cover troughout the academy.
what questions need to be resolved?
A Lot of questions about the programming. I have been doing it in C now but I might change to the arduino IDE. I am also not sure if the magnet sensor will be able to pick up the changes through the plywood.
what will happen when?
I will be travelling to Reykjavík for the presantation. I plan to assembly everything and finish the programming. Before that trip I have to finish the box and some 3D printed parts.
what have you learned?
Molding, casting and composites were totally new to me and caught my interest in the study. I also find the 3d printing and molding and casting very interesting. I have a way better knowlegde now in the different fields of the lab and it enables you to understand and reach out to persons that have mastered those skills. This has greatly improved my fab lab manager job.
