About me
Diego Zhindón — UPS (Quito) — StartLABS
Hello 👋
My name is Diego Zhindón. I work at the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (UPS), Quito, at the StartLABS laboratory.
I am an Electronic Engineer (Industrial Systems specialization), and I also hold a Master’s degree in Digital Transformation and Innovation. I enjoy building practical solutions that combine electronics, digital fabrication, and software.
My interests include IoT and automation, especially for agricultural applications. I have worked on projects related to smart agriculture, automation systems, and prototyping processes that involve 3D printing, CNC machining, and molding.
Background
I started exploring technology through teamwork and entrepreneurship. Together with friends, I co-founded a small drone-related initiative, and later I discovered the world of FabLabs and the maker community. Since then, I have been motivated by learning through making: prototyping, testing, and iterating until an idea becomes a functional artifact.
What I enjoy
- Digital fabrication: laser cutting, CNC, and 3D printing
- Electronics and IoT: sensing, connectivity, and embedded systems
- Learning: I’m curious by nature and enjoy exploring new tools
- Music: it helps me focus and recharge
- Family time: I love spending time with my family
Personal goal
I am 31 years old, and one of my dreams is to have a large place with green spaces where I can build, experiment, and enjoy time with my family. I also want to share maker knowledge with my son so he can grow up exploring creativity, tools, and technology with confidence.
