Hello, I'm Jeff Ritchie. First time fab academy student- long time fan.

My academic background was initially in British Literature (in a previous life I researched and wrote a dissertation on how 18th an 19th century 'scientific' discussions of human variation informed Scottish discussions of nationalism and cultural identity.)

When I was in graduate school, I became interested in how the internet would change, well, everthing. I did additional grad work in what we'd now call digital media and I was eventually hired at a small liberal arts college in Central Pennsylvania to teach English and what was then called digital communications. Years later, I now teach solely in digital media and interaction design. I have been slowly building out a modest and very small makerspace and learning how to use the equipment, but I've wanted to take this class for a very long time.
