Week 12 – My Individual Contribution

This assignment was developed as a team project. The complete group documentation can be found at: Fab Lab León – Week 12 Group Project .

During week 12, my individual contribution to the group project focused on CAD design, 2D design, 3D design, and programming.

1. CAD Design

I participated in the CAD development of the machine, adapting the concept into real parts ready to fabricate and assemble. One of my main contributions was the design and improvement of the Z axis structure, checking dimensions, alignment, and mechanical integration.

2. 2D Design

I also worked on the 2D design of structural parts for fabrication. These flat geometries were prepared for cutting and later assembly. The objective was to ensure dimensional precision and correct fit between components.

3. 3D Design

I contributed to the 3D design of custom mechanical parts, mainly related to the Z axis. After testing an initial version, I helped redesign stronger supports and reinforcement parts to improve rigidity and machine performance.

4. Programming

I was responsible for the programming and machine control process using GRBL and UGS (Universal G-code Sender). I prepared and tested movement routines to validate the coordinated motion of the X, Y, and Z axes.

I also worked on calibration tests and G-code execution to verify the final behavior of the machine.

In summary, my individual contribution during week 12 focused on mechanical design, structural development, custom 3D parts, and machine programming using GRBL and G-code.
