My Final Project example
On this page I will describe my final project. For now, it is only a concept sketch, but the idea behind it is a hot water recirculation system that allows the water pipes to be preheated so that hot water comes out immediately when opening the tap, without having to wait with the tap running for the heat to arrive, thus avoiding a significant waste of water.
Systems like this already exist and have been in use for years, but they all require one thing: construction work. When a recirculation system is installed, it is usually done during the construction of the house, and once the building is finished, carrying out this work becomes very difficult. It would be necessary to break walls again and install new pipes.
My idea is a system that can be installed on any tap, without the need for construction work. It is true that, unlike existing systems, which automatically cover all the taps in a house, this system would only preheat the tap on which it is installed, and it would need to be activated manually before using hot water. However, its main advantage is that it would be a plug-and-play system, easy to install by any user.
The operation is simple. Before using hot water, a button is pressed and the system is activated. An indicator shows the water temperature, and once the water is hot, the system switches off and another indicator informs the user that the tap can be opened. The water would come out hot instantly, with no water waste.
Installation is also simple: disconnect the flexible hoses of the tap, connect the unit between the existing water connections and the tap itself, fix the control unit to the sink or the wall, plug it into the power supply… and start saving water!
