About Oliver Abbott

Student Engineer & Digital Fabrication Enthusiast

I'm Oliver Abbott, a junior at Charlotte Latin School in Charlotte, North Carolina, passionate about turning ideas into reality through design and fabrication. Through the Fab Academy program, I'm diving deep into digital fabrication technologies to expand my capabilities and understanding of modern manufacturing.

Most of my time is spent designing and building mechanical projects, using CAD and Fusion 360 to transform concepts into tangible parts and bring innovative ideas into the real world. The Fab Academy program provides me with hands-on experience in digital fabrication, from 3D printing to electronics design.

My journey into digital fabrication stems from a deep fascination with how things work and how they're made. Beyond engineering, I'm actively involved in varsity football, competitive mountain bike racing, and earned my Eagle Scout rank. These experiences have fundamentally shaped my work ethic, discipline, and leadership abilities.

I also have a passion for automotive restoration, having previously worked on a 1951 Ford F1 and currently undertaking a complete frame-off restoration of my own chromatic 1979 Ford Bronco. This project focuses on maintaining factory authenticity while enhancing key performance aspects like engine compression, reliability, and efficiency.
