About me

Hi! I am José Carlos Matanzo Pérez. I am a third semester student of mechatronics engineering at IBERO Puebla.
I was born and raised in the city of Puebla, Mexico, and I am now taking the Fab Academy course to learn the necessary skills to design and fabricate all sorts of projects.
My hobbies include 3d modeling, reading, pencil and digital drawing and videogames, I am also an incredibly curious person and I'm always eager to learn new things.
Previous work
I have worked as an unofficial industrial designer for a logistics and manufacturing company, focused in the design and production of automotive parts racks. My tasks consisted in adaptating foreign designs to local available materials and product design using the CAD software Catia. This work experience has provided me with valuable skills in computer aided design, which has become my strong suit and a personal hobby.
Project A: Mobile robot with manipulator arm
My favorite project so far is my final project for my Introduction to Mechatronics Engineering class.
It consists of a remote control land vehicle with a robotic arm for grabbing small objects, and although it is quite simple, it was my first real mechatronics project where I integrated everything I had learned from my introductory class.
This project served to show us a peek of what we could create by integrating the skills and knowledge made available to us in mechatronics engineering, and it made me fell more assured that I was pursuing the right career.
If you are interested in this project I encourage you to take a look at my instructable, where you can find a detailed step by step guide to make one of your own.
Project B: Original Sci-fi concept 3d model
This project is less related to mechatronics but it's one of my favorites due to how much I like 3d modeling.
This was my final project for my Digital Drawing II class, consisting of designing an assembly of our choice in the SolidWorks CAD software.
I chose to model and assemble a sci-fi quadruped robot of my own design.
In this project I decided to take a more artistic aproach, focusing on aesthics rather than functionality, and trying to use my skills in 3d modelling to their fullest.
