About me and my ✨cute✨ projects🧸
Hello everyone! My name is Andrea Sofía Rodríguez Velarde, and I'm excited to share a bit about myself and my passion for textile design. Currently, I'm in the eighth semester of the Textile Design program at the Universidad Iberoamericana de Puebla.
Since my childhood, I have always been fascinated by technology, and now, my goal is to merge this fascination with my love for textile design. I dream of creatively implementing technology into my designs and taking them to new horizons in the entertainment industry.
My beautiful ideas came true as:
For my tech fashion projects, I launched this brand called Spina. It's all about drawing inspiration from the spinal cord, you know, that whole backbone of the body thing? My brand is like diving into a world of tech monsters and confronting fears head-on. It's all about embracing the edgy side of technology and fashion, bringing those two worlds together in a seriously cool and kinda spooky way. So yeah, Spina's where it's at when you're looking for a mix of tech and style that's anything but ordinary!

This project titled "Arroz" (Rice) explores a dystopian future where social classes have been forced into an uneasy peace, effectively reducing individuals to mere cogs in a machine. In this context, the story of Arroz, a white-field cultivator from birth, emerges as a unique narrative. His fields, characterized by their whiteness, symbolize the exhaustion and weariness that permeate his existence. The headpiece, crafted with acetone and Unisel, serves as a powerful symbol in Arroz's story. It represents his struggle against the oppressive system, as it breathes for him, converting his breath into resistance against the relentless exploitation of his labor. The 11 white LEDs located in the headpiece's dome serve as a visual manifestation of this resistance, illuminating his path amidst the uniformity of his surroundings. Through this project, I delved into themes of conformity, individuality, and the human spirit's quest for freedom. It serves as a poignant commentary on the human condition and the ongoing struggle against societal norms and oppression. The use of Arduino technology to power the LEDs adds a layer of sophistication to the project, highlighting the intersection of art, technology, and social commentary.

Girl let me tell you about this project "Estrellas" (Stars). I gotta shout out my bud Carmelo for this other gig we did together. He whipped up the dress while I geeked out on all the techy stuff and the mask. It's all about mixing nature vibes with tech wizardry. These projects only scratch the surface of my creative journey, and I'm totally stoked about where my career's heading as a designer.
My dream? To shake up the entertainment scene with my love for fabrics and tech, making experiences that stick with you. Thanks for being part of this wild ride! Hope you dig exploring these worlds as much as I loved crafting them!
