Final Project

A Wonderful Journey

The six-month FabAcademy is coming to an end, and I have gained a lot and have many reflections. I learned about this program three years ago and discovered that it offers excellent course content, allowing participants to learn about maker and digital fabrication technologies and knowledge. It also provides an opportunity to meet enthusiasts from around the world, understand their ideas, and witness their creativity and innovation. This is a continually innovative and open platform where creative organizers and learners shine.

For me personally, I have gained new insights into 3D printing and laser cutting, and I can use these tools to create many creative things. I have also learned new topics like injection molding and PCB design, which greatly support the creation of personal projects. Under Neil's teaching, I have also learned about interesting tools such as Mods and Gerber2PNG. I have used CNC machines to create fun toys. Most importantly, I have experienced and completed the entire process from idea to finished product, and I hope my project can contribute to the community. Ideas are the source of creativity, and tools are the essential support for realizing ideas. This is what I understand to be the mission of a FabLab in the local context.

Of course, various problems will arise in practical tasks. For example, when faced with unfamiliar PCB design, how to find resources and quickly learn to apply them to design tasks? How to plan and schedule each week's assignments and the final project is crucial throughout the learning process. As of now, I have not done well in managing my time and balancing between work and the course. So, this is a piece of advice for those who want to take this course: how to balance your time and project schedule. I believe this course will not only influence my technical knowledge but also have a positive impact on my work and studies. In the future, using this knowledge and carrying an innovative mission, I hope to continuously change and influence more people, allowing local digital manufacturing to blossom and bear fruit.

Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the FabFoundation and all the professors, organizers, and supporters behind the scenes. I also thank the local and international mentors for their efforts. It is because of your tireless efforts that we have this wonderful course content.
