Week2. Computer Aided design
Assignments
- model (raster, vector, 2D, 3D, render, animate, simulate, ...) a possible final project.
- compress your images and videos.
- post a description with your design files on your class page.
This week I worked on defining my final project idea and started to getting used to the documentation process.
2D Design
Inkscape
Inkscape is a free and open-source vector graphics editor used for creating vector-based images and illustrations. It's similar to proprietary software like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW but is available for free to users across various operating systems including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Key features of Inkscape include:
- Vector Graphics Editing: Inkscape allows users to create and edit vector graphics, which are graphics composed of mathematical shapes rather than pixels. This means that vector graphics can be scaled to any size without losing quality.
- Drawing Tools: Inkscape provides a variety of drawing tools such as pen, pencil, shape tools, and text tools for creating different types of graphics and illustrations.
- Object Manipulation: Users can manipulate objects in their drawings by scaling, rotating, skewing, and applying various transformations.
- Layers: Inkscape supports the use of layers, allowing users to organize their artwork into separate layers for easier management and editing.
- File Formats: Inkscape supports a wide range of file formats including its native SVG format (Scalable Vector Graphics) as well as formats like PNG, PDF, EPS, and more.
- Extensions and Plugins: Inkscape has a vibrant community of developers who have created numerous extensions and plugins to extend its functionality, allowing users to perform tasks such as adding special effects, generating patterns, and exporting artwork in various formats.
Design logo
1.create new file
2.Use the Rectangle tool to create a rectangle and modify the rectangle size to 50 and the rounded corners to 6. As shown below:
3.Select the Ellipse tool, draw a circle on the rectangle, turn on the right hook to the center of the bounding box, adjust the position of the circle, or use the Align command, select two target objects, and then align them horizontally and vertically.
4.Select the Text tool to create text content in the margins, and select text formatting and sizing to adjust text spacing.
5.Adjust logo color and export logo image
6.Drawing effects of other drawing tools
Compress images and videos
I compressed all the other images used on the site that were larger than 1mb. In addition, the image size is controlled to be 1mb or less in the images to be used later
3D Design
Fusion360
Fusion 360 is a powerful 3D design software developed by Autodesk. It provides engineers, designers and manufacturers with complete solutions for rapidly designing, testing and manufacturing their ideas. Fusion 360 has comprehensive capabilities including modeling, rendering, simulation, engineering drawing and manufacturing.
With Fusion 360, users can easily create complex 3D models, using a variety of tools and features to realize design ideas and ideas. The software supports parametric modeling and direct modeling, allowing users to flexibly adjust designs and quickly respond to changes. Fusion 360 also offers powerful rendering capabilities that allow users to bring designs to life for more intuitive review and presentation.
Fusion 360 also integrates simulation tools to help users evaluate the performance and reliability of their designs. Through simulation, users can predict the behavior of products in actual use, thus optimizing designs and reducing manufacturing costs.
Fusion 360 is a comprehensive and powerful design software that provides users with a one-stop solution to help them from concept to manufacturing.click here
Modeling
1.Download the software and register your account. I downloaded the personal learning version only for my own learning modeling.
2.Model the four main parts separately according to the sketch
3.fusion360 supports the ability to sketch on a flat surface and then extrude to create a solid
4.Render shading. Based on light transmission and practical use considerations, the top of the cat nest is corrugated, the middle is acrylic, and the bottom is wooden.
Model v1
I designed the first version of the model using fusion360 modeling and tried rendering different materials.
