This is me!

Hi! I am Ansu Thomas.

The story so far!

First, let me tell you a bit about myself and my educational background. I have a masters degree in Structural Engineering…..now how did I get there? While studying in school, when anyone asked me what I wanted to be, I had many many random answers from wanting to be a teacher, an architect, an astronaut and what not. When it came time for me to decide, I chose Civil Engineering….I had no idea about the field but 4 years into my college and I fell in love with structural analysis and design. I decided to take my specialization in Structural Engineering….and ta-da!….that's how it all started.

I had an amazing experience doing my thesis….my first ever project and it was in rockets! I did a thermostructural analysis of the rocket nozzle. Let me tell you about this. So, when a rocket is launched, as the propellant burns and hot gasses flow through the nozzle, the ablative material gradually erodes, carrying away the heat and protecting the nozzle structure from excessive temperatures. What I did was a comprehensive study that analyzed the material properties , thermal conditions and how the structure behaves during these harsh conditions and ensured that the nozzle was designed to withstand these conditions.

The following few years were completely dedicated to analyzing and designing buildings working in an engineering firm. They had very interesting projects….yes!....it was with rockets again….from factories to manufacture rocket components to buildings to watch the rocket launching!

My next experience was in Light gauge steel buildings. Ok,ok….let's cut this short. When family came along, I decided to spent time with the children, since the initial years are very precious and I wanted to cherish those memories. So I took a break from my career. Now, I am ready to relaunch and Fabacademy seemed to be the perfect way to get back on track.

What do I enjoy doing as my hobby

I love organizing and finding new ways to keep things....very much 'at home' at home. I love to paint....acrylic and watercolour. My passion is in baking cakes and cooking.I feel out of place if I don't sit alone, listen to music and do some painting or baking atleast once in a week.

Why Fab lab?

I really believe making technology available to everyone and promoting easy access to innovation.

I am drawn to the Fab Academy by its community of diverse learners and cutting-edge resources. I'm excited about integrating my love for teaching with my knowledge in structural engineering within this collaborative space.

The idea of utilizing advanced digital fabrication tools like 3D printers and CNC routers excites me. I see this as a gateway to grow my skills and nurturing ideas that brings together engineering with innovation.
