WEEK 19

Invention, intellectual property, and income

Assignment:

  • Develop a plan for dissemination of your final project
  • Prepare drafts of your summary slide (presentation.png, 1920x1080) and video clip (presentation.mp4, 1080p HTML5, < ~minute, < ~10 MB) and put them in your root directory

This week, we learned about intellectual property and how to protect the creations we make. It was a new topic but quite interesting for me. The day of the final project presentation is approaching, so I made a summary slide showing the main features of my project and also a video showing the machine operation.

Assignment

Presentation Slide & Video

To make the slide, I used Photoshop, and for the video, I used Premiere. I have basic knowledge of these programs, but I think the result was very good.

Dissemination plan

I don't intend to commercialize my project at this moment, but I would like it to serve as a teaching tool, as its fabrication involves various manufacturing technologies. It is a small machine that can be easily transported. Additionally, there is a set of lessons learned regarding design and fabrication.

To achieve this, I plan to make some improvements and create an easy-to-understand assembly manual. I also aim to produce tutorial videos explaining the functioning of each module and conduct workshops.

I would like to share all the files of my project so it can be replicated and improved, also I would like to make improvements myself in some parts of the structure and in the code. For this reason, I will share the pcb designs, the STL files of the mechanical structure, the STL files of the molds I used, the code, and finally, the procedure for assembling the project. However, I would like anyone who uses them, they should attribute me.

I used the Creative Commons license chooser to select the appropriate license.

So, I will share my project under the CC BY-NC 4.0 Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license. This license requires that reusers give credit to the creator. It allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, for noncommercial purposes only.
