This week's assignment to develop a plan for dissemination of your final project and upload a draft slide and video for your final project.
Tot be? - next steps
Future Opportunities
The initial idea of my stacking lamp was to create a layer for each stage in a person's life - thus more layers to come. Furthermore the electronics should be designed as "hidden" to foster easy collaboration with artist, that can simply reproduce the electronics and simply focus on the creative part of forging an amazing shell.
A few improvements of the basic design should be happening before:
- upgrade microcontroller from SAMD11 to SAMD 21 to have more memory and flash to play with the neopixel
- redo the pcb design to seamlessly fit into the structure pieces
- add additional pinouts for VDD, GND, SDA and SCL lines on the pcb to get rid of the inline connectors and make it easier to connect the wires
- reprint the structure pieces, measuring the tolerance for all printers
- design a "parentboard" to control the I2C connection
- create other clay shells and define the right shrinkage measurements
- recut the lasercut shell to have the exact measurements
- program different light effects with the neopixel and match them with a song, that represents a period in life
- experiment with conductive wire and create my own sensor instead of the copper button
- experiment to connect the magnet to a metal piece and connect the wires to that one ideally
- redesign the magnet fixture for easier cable alignment
- create a nice packaging for the first few shells and pieces
I guess this could be done in a 2-week intense sprint at the Fablab or a Fablab in Austria.
Dissemination Plan
I have no commercial ambition with the stacking lamp, but like to release it on opensource platforms like: thingiverse.com, printables.com or instructables.com. In order to do that release it on any of these website I will use the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International, which gives others freedom to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material
- The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.
I would love to get the electronics to a point that it makes sense to create a little kit to easily collaborate with local artists and keep creating shells myself.
