About me

Headshot of Kelleigh Huey

Hello! I am Kelleigh Huey. I am a STEM Experience Instructor at the PAST Foundation in Columbus, OH, USA. I am a life-long learner and am committed to the future of education. Visit the PAST Foundation website!
I am a recent Ohio State University Graduate (2022) and graduated with a degree in Biology with a minor in chemistry. After graduation, I joined the tribe at the PAST Foundation working with students and facilitating STEM topics to them through hands-on, problem-based activities. At PAST, we are committed to linking learning to life through emersive experiences centered around the interests of the students. I am excited to expand my range of knowledge so that I can pass it on to more kiddos.
I am new to HTML coding, and most other things that I will be learning throughout the course, so bear with me as I document my process.

My favorite thing on Earth is tied between my three favorite animals; my dog Sammy, and my cats Luna and Zeus. Sammy is full of energy and always keeps me on my toes.

Zeus is a sweetheart, he always wants to lay with you and cuddle but will always play with Luna whenever he has the chance.

Luna is my sweet girl!! She is a crazy girl but loves to cuddle too, on her time haha.

My Hobbies

I would say that I spend most of my free time in my hobbies. I could consider myself to be very crafty and determined; when I find something new I want to try, I have to try it right now! Here are some of my projects I've worked on in the past few years.

Photography and Nature

Photo through my telescope of the moon. Photography Lighting. Waterfall. Photo of natural tree formation. Focus of Camera.

Combining my love for the outdoors and my love for photography has been one of my favorites and longest-lasting hobbies. It's amazing what you can see when you walk through your environment and take a few seconds to be midful. There are beautiful things all around us that you can capture with your camera.

Painting and Crocheting

Hummingbird painting for grandmother. Baker Mayfield painting. Crocheting granny squares.

Painting is another of my main hobbies where I can express anything and put it onto a canvas. Crocheting is a recent hobby of mine that has taken the forefront. I am currently working on a granny square blanket for my home. I can't wait for it to be done! I find that spending time doing things for myself brings my mood and energy levels up a great deal.

Previous Experiences

My experience with fabrication, in the past, is mainly composed of wood working, computer controlled machinery, and computer controlled cutting. I have experience with a laser cutter, cricut, 3D printers, majority of shop tools (table saws, chopsaws, drill press, etc.), and other miscellaneous machines. I have also worked with coding of a Farmbot, an open source automated farming robot, but have minimal experience further than that. Below you will find images of previous projects I have designed, built, or both.

Project A

Last summer, I had the priveledge of teaching a 6-week summer program all about Urban Agriculture. The program was student-centered and relied on the students to make decisions on moving forward with the raised beds and the hydroponic systems I built for them. I designed and built two raised beds and two NFT Hydroponic systems. Students engaged in, what we at PAST call, design challenges. They challenge the students to take full control of the brainstorming, research, design, build, and sharing of their projects and give the student autonomy about what they focus on. Our projects emphasize the process, rather than the product. We feel the cycle of learning takes precedent over having a finished product.

Other Experiences

I have used the Cricut a great deal, as well as the laser cutter, t-shirt printer, and most shop tools.
