18. Project development
1.1 Assignments of the Week
- Complete your final project tracking your progress.
1.2 Completed Tasks
- PCB completed ✔
- The main structure of the Shikumen model has been completed ✔ (The decorative part of the lintel is still missing.)
- The code for the magnetic sensor has been tested ✔
1.3 Spiral Development
I love this picture that explains what spiral development is. (Thanks Rico for sharing)
According to this idea, I come up with my spiral plan.
Spiral 1 (June 1st - June 4th)
Complete preliminary appearance design:
- Complete the modeling and 3D printing of Shikumen.
- Complete drawing and laser cutting of scenary cards.
- Base and shell fabrication and assembling.
Spiral 2 (June 4th - June 6th)
Electronics testing (order matters):
- Realize the function that when the child selects the corresponding card and inserts it into the card slot, if the answer is correct, the light strip turns on, otherwise stays off. Attach magnets at different positions at the bottom of each scenary card, and place a magnetic sensor at the corresponding position of the card slot. When the magnet is sensed, it means that the card is inserted correctly, and the light strip in the card slot lights up, otherwise it does not light up.
- Realize the function that when the child press the button, doors open. The difficulty lies in the design of the door's rotating structure so that it can be smoothly driven by the steering gear.
- Integration and testing Version 1.
Spiral 3 (June 6th - June 9th)
Add features:
Spiral 4 (June 9th - June 11th)
Advanced functions:
- Make 3 sets of cards showing life scenes in Shikumen courtyard from different eras. Select different eras by sliding the potentiometer, and then play recordings describing patio life in the corresponding eras. If the correct card is inserted, the light will turn on, otherwise it will not light up.
- Finish slide and video.
