Application and implications.

For this week we were to Propose a final project masterpiece that integrates the range of units covered and answer the following questions.

What will it do?

Auto heated vest as a final project. During extreme weather heater jacket with sensor would be essential since it can be helpful to those who are doing duties in northern highland.(mostly Dessups and military people of our country) The sensor in the heater jacket can sense the temperature and help to maintain balance heat to the body. It can be commercialize in the market as well after the prototype is successful .Durning pandemic in winter Dessup and military doing duties had tough time with the weather and the snow so I thought of making heater Vest with sensor. It can also be helpful to those who are doing northern border duties.

Who's done what beforehand?

Heater jacket are mostly manufactured in the well developed county where as a country like ours has been importing such jacket which are useful during the extreme weather so I wanted to do this first project on heating. vest from our country so that I can reduce the import of the product from the other countries.Here is 2018 Fab graduate student who did on heated vest but he did not use any sensor. you can get his link from Here This student did fab academy in 2018 and did his final project on heated vest. for his project he did not use senosor.

Below here is the manufacture of heated vest in the market which is very expensive for a country like ours.

What will you design?

For the Vest I am going to use a cloth piece, my heating vest will be different from the normal ones that you get from the market since the ones you get from the market you have to manually put it on and off where as in my heating vest the sensor will sense the temperature outside and it will turn on automatically.

What materials and components will be used?

For the vest i am using a thin cloth piece, for the switch button case are 3D printed, The logo for the jacket as a trade mark is cut out from vinyl cutter, the micro controller I am using is Attiny 1614. Input(s); is DS182B20 sensor that sense the temperature at the threshold of 10 degree and maximum of 15 to 20 degree since our human body temperature is adapted to minium of 10 degree celsius and maximum of 15 degree after the if the heat is more the temperature sensor will command and the mcu and the heat will be reduced automatically by the output heating pads. Output(s) ; home made Heating pads using 18v re-chargeable batteries, a Nichrome wire and a small piece of foam. Power Source is from batteries that are rechargeable

Most the components are from super fab lab, our local lab (Choe-go fab lab) and from the local hardware shops.

What parts and systems will be made?

For the vest i am making it from zund and for the switch button i am 3D designing and printing it out. For the heating pads i made it on my own from our local lab with the help of my instructor Dorji Tshering Drugyel. For the MCU board I am going to mill from super fab lab.

What processes will be used?

For 3D designing i am using fusion 360 software and print out using 3D printer (Prusa), for the vest i am using Zund machine to cut out the vest and the software to design the vest is by using the inkscape software. for the MCU i am using the SRM20 to mill the board.

What questions need to be answered?

These are the question that will be asked for my heating vest; How can it sense the temperature outside? How much will it cost to commercialize in the market, who will buy this type of vest? what are the cheapest way to make it affordable and more unique from ordinary jackets?

How will it be evaluated?

Since I was not sure about the heating pads to arrive here so i made one and i am not sure how long it will work in reality although I made one simple from home. The exact mosfet for 18 volt batteries and the voltage regulator for the mcu should be depending to the voltage from the power source and the mcu. so according to the requirement for subtractive and additive i have cut out the log for 2d and for additive i have printed out buttons on the jacket and the slide switch case.

    I also want to add cooling system in my vest. which we can use both during winter and summer season.

    Make a proper cases for the components for safety.

    Even make a proper stitching so that anyone can wear , male and female.
