Measurement Equipment¶
Multimeter¶
I’m familiar with a multimeter. I don’t own an expensive one and it works fine. It even has an automatic “switch off” when it’s not used for more than a minute.
Biggest issue with cheap ones is that the leads are very crappy. To solve that I invested already some time ago in professional Fluke leads and probes. It’s expensive, but worth the money. In fablab De Waag there are several variants in cheaper and more expensive versions, that are not necessarily better according to our instructor Erwin.
Oscilloscope¶
Together with Ben and Jonathan I investigated the oscilloscope. I already had been working with one a long time ago, but it’s always difficult to find the right buttons on from a different brand. But we managed in the end to show the signals to two different LEDs on a working name tag board. As you can see they are switched on and of in some time grid aans sometimes at the same time and sometimes not as the text on the name tag automatically scrolls by.
Logic Analyser¶
I wanted to have a look nto a logic analyser, but there was no time to set it up, so that’s on my to do list for coming weeks, probably when we get to embedded programming.
