Invention, Intellectual Property and Income

Invention

My final project is titled "MIDI LASER HARP" which consists of a digital musical instrument made up of laser light beams. Through the MIDI protocol we can use any sound from the computer. This instrument is in the shape of a harp with 6 musical notes. This project is intended for electronic music enthusiasts as well as for children who are starting out in the world of music.

Thanks to the Fab Academy I was able to carry out all the digital manufacturing processes from 2D and 3D design, manufacturing of parts with laser cutter and 3D printer, electronic card with mini CNC milling machine and microcontroller programming.

License

GPL GNU General Public License:

This license is interesting because it allows a rapid dissemination of the technology produced, with the condition of revealing what is being done. It is important to consider that it is not reasonable to obtain money directly in this type of agreement.

Creative Commons:

Creative Commons "CC" is an international organization that provides various types of licenses and technological resources that help authors share their knowledge.

Future plans for the project:

The main goal for this project is the simplicity and ease for making a MIDI instrument using digital fabrication and electronics. Even, for teaching music for beginners in music world. Imagination has no limits.

Choosing the license type:

I believe that the most appropriate license is Creative Commons, the future plan is to have income resulting from the applications derived from the asset that is being generated. A non-commercial and non-derivative license is appropriate for those plans. My medium-term goal is to make my project known to the greatest number of people, and from the activities that are generated as a result of this disclosure, generate income. The Creative Commons license is "(CC-By-NC-ND)".

Disemination plan

This project could be disseminated in the educational field, I mean, in schools, music institutes where basic learning of this art would be ideal.

It can be used in any sound therapy just by using your fingers without direct physical contact. Additionally, other types of sensors can be added and improve the project significantly.
