Note: Leen does not feel comfortable talking about herself. I, on the other hand, love bragging about her!
Leen Nijim is from the olive-tree-rich country of Palestine. She absolutely smashed school and was part of the football national team. Smart and sporty – that doesn’t seem fair. She then went on to study Mechatronics Engineering in Amman, Jordan at GJU, the German Jordanian University. There she was forced to learn German and experience other parts of the world (aka Germany) during her semester abroad in a lovely town. This stay and the people there could not deter her and she stayed in Germany for her internship and subsequent Bachelor thesis with the company Brose. Because Leen was still curious and not willing to be working a grown-up job yet, she decided on the Master study course “Bionics/Biomimetics” at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Cleves, Germany - a decision she might regret because she got stuck with me. Three years went by during which she fixed stuff I broke, learned how to operate several Fablab machines in the workshop and developed open-source orthotics. She also discovered her love for diving, and some day in the future we will make it to the Red Sea (because the Dead Sea had no fishies when we went last time). Obviously, this all so far was not enough for her yet – “Next stop: Fab Academy”.
