Individual Assignment¶
- Make (design+mill+assemble) something big
Object Layout¶
The design is a vertical cabinet to place different objects. It was designed by Rinho7 in assignment 4 on 3D software. With slicer for fusion360, the measurements of 1m x 1m divided by 6 x 6 modules were established. It was exported in autocad format to order the sheets according to the size of the MDF.
CAM Toolpath¶
For the elaboration of the Gcode JsCut was used. First, the vector design had to be exported to Inkscape to edit its colors and save it in .SVG format.
In the online platform JsCut the data was configured. Outside with the 1/8” tool. Cutting depth of 6mm since the MDF board was 5.75mm.
Final Object¶
With the 1/8” cutter, the Gcode was executed. After approximately 30 minutes, all the pieces were cut.
After sanding the pieces we proceeded to join the pieces.
Problems¶
The Tabs had to be designed in Autocad since the Jscut platform does not have the automatic option. The final finish of the MDF pieces had to be sanded as it was left with small splinters. The MDF boards were very large. It had to be cut in half with a manual cutting disc
