Week 13

Objective of the activity

Midterm Review Progress

Today I'm reviewing my weekly assignments, documenting my progress, and organizing the remaining tasks for my Final Project at Fab Academy.

So far, I have been working on:

  • Principles and Practices
    ✔ Project Management
    ✔ Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
    ✔ Computer-Controlled Cutting
    ✔ Embedded Programming
    ✔ 3D Scanning and Printing
✔ Electronics Design and Production Input
    ✔ and Output Devices
    ✔ Networking and Communications
✔ Mechanical Design and Machine Design

Objective of the activity

The objective of this week was to carry out a comprehensive review of the progress made in Fab Academy, evaluating the progress made in the weekly assignments and in the development of the Final Project. Likewise, it was sought to organize and plan the remaining tasks through schedules, system diagrams, lists of activities and technical documentation, in order to optimize the management of the project and correctly prepare the final presentation of the Midterm Review.

I'm also improving my Final Project documentation by creating:

📌 System diagrams
📌 Task lists
📌 Production plans
📌 Timeline and project schedule
📌 Weekly progress documentation

This midterm review is an important step to evaluate progress, improve project management, and prepare for the final presentation.

Grateful for the support from my local and global instructors throughout this learning journey at Fab Academy 🚀

Problems and Solutions

Problem 1: Difficulty in organizing all the accumulated documentation

Solution:
Project folders and weekly documentation were reorganized, sorting images, CAD files, codes, and evidence by weeks and categories.

Problem 2: Lack of clarity on the pending tasks of the Final Project

Solution: A task list and work schedule were developed to clearly visualize completed and pending activities before final delivery.

Problem 3: Integrating Multiple Modules into a Single Project

Solution: System diagrams and production plans were developed to understand how electronics, programming, mechanical design, and digital fabrication relate within the final project.

Problem 4: Time management between documentation and manufacturing

Solution: A weekly planning was implemented prioritizing critical tasks and establishing partial objectives to avoid work accumulation.

Problem 5: Constantly updating the Fab Academy website

Solution: Documented project progress weekly using screenshots, technical descriptions, and manufacturing evidence to keep the site up to date.

Reflection

The Midterm Review was a very important stage because it allowed me to stop and analyze the entire learning process developed so far. I was able to observe how each week directly contributed to the development of the Final Project, integrating electronics, programming, CAD design, digital fabrication and technical documentation.

I also understood that organization and planning are just as important as the technical part. Having a clear schedule, defined tasks, and tidy documentation makes it much easier to move the project forward.

This experience helped me strengthen skills in:

  • Project Management
  • Technical planning
  • Professional documentation
  • Multidisciplinary integration
  • Troubleshooting

Finally, the Midterm Review allowed me to visualize the progress made and prepare me in a more confident and organized way for the final stage of Fab Academy.

Learning achieved

During this week I learned the importance of conducting a technical and organizational review of the project before the final stage of Fab Academy. I understood that it is not only important to manufacture and program functional systems, but also to correctly document each process and maintain a structured planning.

I also learned:

  • To evaluate the real progress of the Final Project.
  • Organize tasks using schedules and production lists.
  • To integrate technical documentation with visual evidence.
  • To relate all the Fab Academy weeks within a single functional system.
  • To improve the technical communication of the project through diagrams and work plans.

In addition, this review made it possible to identify strengths and aspects that still require improvement before the final presentation.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why is it necessary?

Answer:
This step is necessary because it allows me to evaluate my overall progress in Fab Academy and understand how close I am to meeting the course requirements. It also helps me identify which parts of my final project are already developed and which still need further work. This review is essential to organize the remaining tasks and ensure I can reach the final submission by the June deadline.

2. How can I create a schedule to manage the rest of Fab Academy?

Answer:
To manage the remaining weeks of Fab Academy, I am organizing my work through structured planning. I am using task lists, weekly planning, and an overall project timeline. I am also considering tools such as Gantt charts or Kanban boards to better visualize progress across all modules. This helps me distribute tasks evenly over time and avoid last-minute workload accumulation.

3. How can I communicate my final project proposal and its progress?

Answer:
I communicate my final project proposal through a dedicated page in my Fab Academy documentation. In this page, I explain how the complete system works and how all parts of the project are integrated. I also document weekly progress using system diagrams, task lists, fabrication evidence, testing results, and improvements. This allows me to clearly show the evolution of my project from the initial concept to its current stage, making the system understandable and traceable.
