About Me

Hello, I'm Amany, just turned 25. I love art, music, reading and writing. Also, I would like to dive in deep for days watching films, series, Anime; before Fab Academy of course :D. I'm people oriented most of the times as I really enjoy hanging out with people and meeting more and more new ones.

Oh! and I am an engineer. I graduated from Mechatronic engineering around 2 and a half years ago. As, ever since I was a little kid watching movies that have hackers and engineers I wanted to be one. It amazed me what they could do by only typing codes. So, here I am not only learning how to control CNC machines using computers but also learning how to build them.

In collage we didn't do much practical work as much as theoretical one so I never really got my hands dirty working on many projects or using machines or even woodworking ones, I didn't even knew how to hammer a nail properly :D Then, first time doing so was in my final projects were me and my two best friends made a 3D printer following an open-source tutorial of making one. we made a lot of mistakes and gained alot of know-hows so it was fun. Also, I pumped into Maker Faire Cairo while I was still in collage and that's where I knew Fab Lab Egypt for the first time, a bit late but better than never!
Then after graduating I applied as an intern and finally becoming a full-timer. Through my work I gained a lot of skills even when I wasn't realising it, I changed a lot and hopefully keep changing and getting better. After graduation I wanted to continue learning both mechanics and electronics, hardware and software but many companies only offered 1 of them so it was very difficult to choose from untill I found Fab Lab Egypt of course. That is why I also joined Fab Academy as I found it to bring me 1 step closer in knowing more in multiple subjects making a full project by myself which sounds so interesting to me.
I don't know how things will turn out in a couple of years or where will I be at then but I am sure I will be somewhere learning new skills and spreading the maker culture in one way or another as it really did affect me deeply and I want to pay it forward.
