This is going to be a pretty boring webpage with few images as I am still working on much of the design.

Here is a preview of my Fusion Design which is close to what the final product will look like. I am currently working on designing the assembly mechanics.
What will it [my final project] do?
  • My final project is a drink dispenser to make the perfect Rum and Coke using a ratio of 6 ounces of Coca-Cola and 2 ounces of Bacardi Rum. A bowl of limes will be provided.

    I am still wotking out the details of how it will be dispensed. I am considering using a screen and knob similar to Prusa 3D printer, but I may just use a button-press.
Who's done what beforehand?
  • I have found an instructables for someone who made a custom fountain-drink dispenser using the same pumps that I am using. The design, however, is very different.

What will you design?
  • I am basically designing everything from scratch: the enclosure, wiring, circuitry, controller, etc. I will not be designing the components such as the pumps, buttons, and LED strips.

What parts and systems will be made?
  • Enclosure
  • Interior Guides for Wires, Tubing, and Pumps
  • Main Controller Board
  • Spill Catcher
  • Lime Bowl and Tongs
What processes will be used?
  • Laser Cutting the Acrylic for Enclosure
  • 3D Printing Spill Catcher, Internal Fasteners, Wire / Tubing Guides, Pump Holder, and Probably More
  • Milling Cutom Controller Board
  • Embedded Programming for Controller
What questions need to be answered?
  • Is the ATtiny1616 the right chip for this?
  • Can the ATtiny handle 6V?
  • How do I make 2 pumps go at once, one of them slower than the other?
  • How large do I want this? Right now it is 300 mm x 200 mm.
  • Will my custom fasteners work?
  • Will this work with Pepsi?
How will it be evaluated?
  • If I am able to make a single, delicious Rum and Coke before everything breaks, I will be happy.
Your project should incorporate:
  • 2D and 3D Design: I will be using Fusion 360 and Adobe Illustrator to design everything
  • Additive and Subtractive Fabrication Processes: 3D Printing for addative, Laser Cutting and Milling for subtractive
  • Electronics Design and Production: KiCAD to design controller board and Roland / MODs to mill it
  • Embedded Microcontroller Interfacing and Programming: ATtiny1616 to control everything
  • System Integration and Packaging: The enclosure is going to be transparent, so I want everything to look tidy
