Measuring Power Consumption for a BLDC motor [Group Work]
Power consumption is measured in watts. We can find the power consumption of a device by measuring the ammount of current going through it multiplied by the voltage.
From the Benchtop Power Supply
The benchtop powersupply can display the current and voltage passing through its channels. I measured the power consumption of the BLDC motor with it.
For the lowest speed,(12), the power consumption was 0.20A at 12v. Therefore the power consumption
was 2.4W
For the Highest speed,(140), the power consumption was 0.65A~0.70A at 12v. Therefore the power
consumption was 8.4W
From Multimeter unit placed in Series
We placed a multimeter in Ammeter mode in series with my ESC and took the same readings to compare with the
previous test.
For the lowest speed,(12), the power consumption was 0.212A at 12v. Therefore the power consumption
was 2.54W
For the Highest speed,(140), the power consumption was 0.701 at 12v. Therefore the power
consumption was 8.412W
