FAB ACADEMY 2015

week17

This weeks contents is about Invention, Intelectual property and Income ton englobe this we have to develop a plan for dissemination of our final project.

My project is ment to be a friendly and funcional way of spread both El Salvador's culture and also digital fabrication to kids. It's conceptualisation came from a Salvadoran Folk song comming to life in a playful cart for kides where you can store things and it also plays the song. It can be personalized by hand as it has spaces to be filled in with handmade woven. It has an on/off switch in its legs so it activates the song when you pull it up for movement and it also has a hall effect sensor in the wheels that control the lights on it.

Generally speaking my project is the combination of three things: 1. the plywood cart, 2. The electronic components and 3. The programming for interaction.

For the moment I thinkabout my final project as a prototype in its way to be improved until it can be a final product so for the moment I actualy don't see the necessity to licence it but for the time I have it I'll like to make with Creative Commos for the cart as the principal objetive of my project is to spread salvadoran culture and this way anybody who whants to use tha design and files arrown de world can do it but ofcourse without a profit intention. This is my principal way of thinking about this subject, lets make Toritos arround the world!!!

In this source you can see the necessary considerations for a Creative Commons license.

In this case I'll be licensing my own work so this is the reference for that: Licensing my work. And the first thing is the one that has stoped me for doing it "Once you apply a CC license to your material, anyone who receives it may rely on that license for as long as the material is protected by copyright and similar rights, even if you later stop distributing it." It and other isues makes me into doubt and prefer to think better to make the best decision for the project.

About the license I like to my project is the one that alows you to Share and Adapt the material in non comercial way and it also requiest for the user to distribute it's contributios under the same license as the original.

This an Open project so people can download and fabricate wherever I've never think of it as an income source but an academic experiment that can guide me to new things. Spreading what I've done in social media has let me know what people thinks about it and also it has let me know if they want it, a couple of people has already asked me to make a Torito for them but with changes so I think that if I would like it to be a final product and sell it I'll have to support the concept and the product itself. A dificult fact for me is that in my country there are no FABLABs jet so I dont have a place to machin in CNC so if I want to make a product It'll have to be a smaller size so I can make in a lacer cutter.
