COMPUTER-CONTROLLED MACHINING
car

Hi to all, for this week assignment, I made a slot car circuit, using a 2440x1220mm MDF table and by milling it.

I made the design of the two tracks, with one thing in mind, to make two tracks with the same length, also I want to have two different surfaces, a smooth one, and a tarmac one, so for the tarmac or urban zone, I design zones with a lot of squares trying to simulate rock flooring.

I use two different tools, one for the tracks and another different one for the rock flooring. For the tracks I use a two edge 3mm mill, the tracks may have a deep of about 6/8mm, and for the rock flooring simulate I use a 90 degrees 20mm mill, I mill with it 2mm deep to get rock flooring surface.

Here you can see photo of the final circuit and another one in with you can see a detail of the rock flooring zone and how the tracks are not parallels as on the commercial parts formed slot circuits, by milling you can build your tracks totally customized.

If anyone can make a similar circuit you can download the DXF file bellow:
