Individual Assignment

Invention and Intellectual Property

I am going to build a smart glasses that can do Augmented Reality. They will be able to display messages to user while maintaining transparency. I was inspired by Google Smart Glasses and VR Headsets.

Dissemination

I believe that the future of the technology lies in wearable tech. Just 5 years ago Smart Glasses were seen as something out of science fiction however, Google, Alphabet Corp. developped their own. After that people started thinking that it is possible to make a smart glasses but only tech giants like Google or Apple can do it.
I believe that by doing this Final Project I will be able to show the world that even a self-taught 19 years old first-year student in a Liberal Arts College with limited supplies can do it. In the future I want to order my designed boards online because I do not have the resources to mill a board with 0.5 mm pitch 24 pin connector.

To this day, our understanding of science comes from people repeating other people's experiments. I believe that knowledge should be open to everyone. For example, if I was not able to find open source documentation about all the problems I have faced I wouldn't be able to get even close to being able to start this project. Hence, I want to make my Final project open source too. I hope that people will look into my creation and create better open source ones.

Once I finish building it, I will update my Final Project website with a list of materials used and the code.

For licensing our Final Project, a Business Professor (Prof. C. C. Chapman)from Wheaton College MA came to our lab. He talked about licensing and marketing. He showed us websites like creative commons. I have used Creative Commons for my Final Project.

“Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International”

Creative Commons License
XR Smart Glasses by Ozgur Tuna Ozturk is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.
Based on a work at http://fabacademy.org/2021/labs/wheaton/students/ozgur-tunaozturk/assignments/final.html.

I went to the Creative Commons Website and then clicked "share your work" after that I clicked "get started" under "choose your license."
If we go over what each Icon means on the Creative Common Logo. The first one (CC) is the shortened Version of Creative Commons. It symbolises that this product is protected by creative commons. The second one (with a human logo on it) is personification atribute. If a creative common product has this it means that to use this product the user needs to give appopriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. The third one (with the crossed dollar sign) shows that this product is a non-commercial. Which means the user cannot use it for anything commercial. The fourth (rotation sign) and the last one is the "share alike" atribute. It means that if there were any changes made or if the user created their own product from my product they need to share it with the world with the same Creative Commons License.

Presentation

Tuna Smart Glasses Slide

On this image, I have created a one slide 1920x1080 presentation of my Final Project. I talk about what it will be able to do in Theory, how will it be made, and why it is good. I also try to illustrate how it will work by using smart imaging.
I have also created a presentation video:
