Project Interview

What Tasks have been completed and what tasks remain?
I get to a point of the project in which I checked almost all the parts. Now I should rething the project to implement what i learned and essentially the improvement of Electronic Design and Production skills(I have made a second version of my electronic board that combines the two electronic boards together),you can see here a gantt program that briefly describes the time spent in each part of this project.

What has worked?
My mechanical design is compact and the external design of the machine is simplistic. the first version of the electronic board works and it gives a readable result.
What hasen't worked?
I had a lot of difficulties with the solenoid I ordered ... I needed an effector to drill holes in plain paper. The holes should be close to 1.44 mm in diameter, which is the standard size for Braille. I had originally purchased a solenoid with a stroke of 4 mm, which did not have enough force to punch holes in the paper. So I decided to make it myself, I found in a broken printer, several traction solenoids, so I decided to turn one of them into a push-pull solenoid. It forced me to change the design of the carrying part of the solenoid a little bit.In the future I'm going to look for and buy a good solenoid adept to my machine it will be very useful for the new version.
What questions need to be resolved?
I would say that the main question is if this machine fits some lab’s needs. It would be very nice to find a way to replicate it in collaboration with some other fablabs. the secod question is if it's compact enough to be portable and putting in a bag . the third one ,if it may be designed in the next versions to be used for people with visual impairment without the presence of an intermediary person.
What will happen when?
Now I need to test my machine and to take the opinions of people with visual impairment to have the improvements that can be made, and then I will come back on the project I will try to improve it. I have some ideas for improvements that are generally presented here

What have you learned?
I learned a lot of things, but to summarize, being a student in computer science, the manipulation and use of several techniques such as molding and casting was really a discovery. Many skills and knowledge were acquired while working on this project. The most important thing was the time management during a pandemic lockdown. At the beginning it was an infernal rhythm since I worked in parallel on my graduation project to obtain the title of engineer and also the title of research master and also I was part of the tunisian 3d printing network during the pandemic working on network administration and shields printing too; time was a treasure in my case. I have developed the skill of documenting as I work That was extremely difficult at first, and caused slowdowns in the process of completing the assignments. Now, however, it’s a skill that I’ve become quite adept at.
