Fabric Interlocking - Make your dress without sewing

What is Interlock?
A device or mechanism for connecting or coordinating the function of different components.

In this week I designed the pattern that would interlock. Finding the right interlock pattern was quite a task for me. I tried different types and ways to make it work.

I was going through fabric academy website and checking the assignment. Then I found circular fashion which is base on Interlock. I liked this concept. We also have sewing/fabric lab. So,I decided to do this..

I followed fabric academy studentJESSICA.

I redesigned the shape made by jessica.I made this design in Corel Draw. I just refer design and try to making PurseThis shape design looks like Leaf.

I took freehand tool and drew this shape

Then I save this file in .DXF file

Paper Cutting
Before going on fabric,I cut it on A4 size Paper for checking How it works.

I taped a sheet of A4 paper to the laser bed, and set the speed to 100, and power to 10 on in the laser cutter software.

I tested differnt speed and power . then I got the speed to 100, and power to 10.After cutting I assemble it two parts.

After Finalized, I go on fabric.This was my first experience i.e, cut fabric on Laser cutter.

I given same speed and power which are given to Paper. But it do not cut properly. Then I change the speed and power.I Deficiency speed and improving in power.i,e. the Speed is 50 and power is 65.

I used multi material.I cut on laser cutter. then I assembled it.

I had to face a lot of difficulties while adding the interlock. I wanted to purse but I did not understand what to do. I was joining a single line in a row.

I did not made purse but I am tried to assemble it on differnt ways.

Then I am tried to used a differnt ways like bracelet,use on neck.

Problem I faced ?
I do not get the cloth that I want. then I used silk fabric.after connect the interlocks did not fit properly and They disappeared that why it could not made specific product. Just keep Interlocking.

After I tried to make other simple design.I check interlocking design on internet.I want a simple design. I found a simple design.

I made one simple 2d pattern in Corel Draw and then save that DXF file.

Import this file in RD works

Same here, Firstly I cut it on A4 size paper.

then I assemble it.

Same,I took One more design.I tested a interlocks on differnt design. I was checked how it work properly.

I did same process.

I don't Countinue of this shape. Beacause I want simple and well,proper interlocking without more gapping.

Finally,I took a very simple design for making purse design.I drew a one simple circle and attached one more small circle for interlocking with other circle.

Its looks like Micky Mouse Face.....
