Week 1

Like Aretha said : THINK !

MOOD OF THE WEEK

This is an exercise we made our leaners do in my last job. Always thought this was an interesting way to see their evolution during the training. I'm the learner this time, my turn to play !

First week, been waiting for months, very excited !! :)
We had our first talk with Neil, who was not alone. All the nodes (the labs in the program) got to introduce themselves. We also had two guests : he was with his two brothers, Alan Gershenfeld and Joel Cutcher-Gershenfeld. They wrote a book together, called Designing Reality. A bit of history, a bit of stuff to think about. I took a lot of notes, I want to write an article about it. Hope I'll have some time ! But for now, I have to do my week's assignment : choose an idea for my final project and start really thinking it through !

Hello Neil !
Hello Amsterdam !

THINKING IN PROGRESS !

This week's assignments :

  • Think about your final project
  • Start designing it

FINDING PROJECT VALERY

I have so many ideas, hard to choose ! But I have this project in mind since a while, and the more I think about it the more I feel it's the right moment to work on it !

With a friend, who's a fab manager and who tought me the first maker's stuffs I ever made, we have this idea of an escape game... in a box !

Step 1 : Research

I started to look around on the internet, talk to people about my idea, to see what already exists and what I can do to personalise it. One thing is for sure, I want to do an escape game where the players get to learn some history of the internet and be initiated to programing (#pedagogyalways).

I found some pen and paper escape game, that you can download, but the most inspiring project I saw was Fablab Escape : an escape game in a box to learn about Fablabs.
Lucky me, all their plans are open source and online !

Step 2 : Organize

A few years ago, I was working on this idea for a web serie, that I started writing but never finished. Always loved the idea, but let's face it : I'm no screen writer ! How about using all my researches and notes to be another purpose ?

To be sure not to forget anything, I made a Trello Board where I'll keep all my ideas, references, tutorials, type of enigmas, etc

Wanna take a look ? Be my guest ! :) This board is way too full, I know, but I'll clean it up during the project's life ! #pinkyswear

Hum, I talk I talk, but I still haven't walked you through the details... To do it right and to stop blabbering, here's a mind map that summarizes my final project :
