Week 19: Invention , Intellectual Property and Income

Assignment

  • Develop a plan for dissemination of your final project prepare drafts of your summary slide (presentation.png, 1920x1080) and video clip (presentation.mp4, 1080p HTML5, less than minute and less than 10 MB) and put them in your root directory

  • Project Dissemination Plan

The objective of my final project is to design a smooth display hexagonal clock, which not only displays time 24/7 but also a source of fun. There are lot of possibilities to make this project as commercial product. Like I shall make a finished market competetive product which can replace the old analog clock. Furthermore this product can also be installed in indoor and outdoor spaces such as hospitals, railway stations, bus stands and educational institutes. Futthermore, I may build an ordering website where client can place the order for this clock. I would not mind if people use my hexagonal clock instead of old fashioned clocks. At the end I hope that this clock will become product in coming days and will capture imagination of potential customers.

What do we mean from License?

A license or licence is an official permission or permit to do, use, or own something. A license can be granted by a party to another party as an element of an agreement between those parties. A shorthand definition of a license is "an authorization to use licensed material." In particular, a license may be issued by authorities, to allow an activity that would otherwise be forbidden. It may require paying a fee or proving a capability. The requirement may also serve to keep the authorities informed on a type of activity, and to give them the opportunity to set conditions and limitations. Since I was already aware of the licenses and their types, but during the lecture I knew more about the different types of licenses , following are the two licenses that are commonly used as free licensing softwares.

    MIT License

MIT License is a very popular license for its license compatibility as it is a permissive free software license (it puts very minimum restirctions on reuse) and is originated by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). You can read more about MIT license HERE!

    Creative Commons

Creative Commons is the global community that breaks down the walls that keep people from sharing their knowledge. This is what makes it so much popular among the people, because nobody like to be limited in sharing in this interlinked world of internet. Creative Commons is also a free to use license. Since this is free and popular so I chose this license software for my final project. Everything is available on their webiste and I read more about its terms of use and other usage rules from the Wikipedia

The type of licenses and and terms are given below:
