Assignment One: Sketch a Final Project Idea

The first task is to think of a final project.

Unfortunately, I have too many ideas. I will start by sketching them out - my hope is that as the classes go on and I learn more, I will be able to make a better decision.

I decided to enrol in Fab Academy because I am interested in learning electronics skills, so my project will have to include some electronics. My three current ideas are: a way to account for steps to complete a project, a way for couples in a long distance relationship to be reminded of each other, and a way to store/capture waste mechanical energy.

These three ideas are personal to me because I tend to work on many different project - both for work and in my personal life -, I am currently in a long distance relationship, and I was born in Nigeria where electric power from the grid is very limited.

As a product-oriented person, I tend to think more about my ideas as products that people could use. For the first idea, I imagine anyone who needs a visual reminder of project completeness. For the second idea, couples in a long distance relationship are the target, and the third idea is targeted at low-income earners in Lagos, Nigeria who own a cycle.

After thinking about these ideas more, I searched the internet and the Fab Academy archive for some projects that are related to the three mentioned above. Then, I made some sketches are here, the final project page.
