Week 19: Invention, Intellectual Property and Business Models

Invention

The intention of my final project is to make a structure that is free and accessible to the majority of people, public entities. In other words, the objective is to generate an open source project, to generate urban furniture that can be modified and updated to generate better functioning and comfort for people.

Intellectual Property

There is a large number of licenses Open Source to choose, an expression in parentheses after a license name is its short identifier SPDX. The following are the most common for the development of projects.

However, I will use the license Creative Commons (CC) . In Peru most of these licenses are used by private institutions such as universities or public entities such as the Congress of the Republic, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Housing and Construction, etc.
Creative Commons (CC) is a non-profit organization that allows the use and exchange of creativity and knowledge through a series of free legal instruments.

Within this organization, the authors have a set of flexible licenses that facilitate the dissemination of information, educational resources, artistic and scientific works, among others.
These licenses are the following:

Dissemination

I will share the first prototype of the project as non-commercial open source, documenting each step to make a functional pavilion that is built by any person or entity. The future steps to make a commercially viable product would be to refine some elements such as structural anchoring, design of the roof with new architectural materials.
For the moment, this pavilion will be built within the University of Lima and will be replicated in the future in district parks. To promote it internationally, social networks, architecture blogs, the Fab Lab network, etc. will be used.
