Week - 03 Computer-Controlled Cutting
Assignment
- group assignment:
- characterize your lasercutter, making test part(s)
- that vary cutting settings and dimensions
-individual assignment: - cut something on the vinylcutter - design, lasercut, and document a parametric press-fit construction kit, - accounting for the lasercutter kerf, - which can be assembled in multiple ways
Group assignment: Lasercutter Characteristics
- We have a Epilog Zing laser which is lent by the German Association for Open Workshops. It has a max power of 30W but if we use it constantly at it maximum capacity the CO2 tube would not be able to hold up for a long time. (And probably increasing the risk of firehazard)
- Therefore we tried out different settings by increasing the configuration by 25% respectively. (Images 1 - 5)
- I started at the weakest setting of 25% power and speed.
