Kaimen Blomgren, 17 years old and a senior at the East Bay Met School in Newport, RI.  I'm going through the Fab Academy as my senior thesis project to hopefully prove my worthiness of graduation.  I live in Bristol, RI as I have for just about my whole life, save a brief period of time in Bristol's neighboring town of Warren.

I've been deeply interested in the world of electronics for the past 4 years or so.  I started out making simple mods to video game controllers and ethernet cables to help me gain an advantage in competitive online gameplay.  Fair?  Not at all.  Fun?  Very much so.  Through various resources (books/internet/and mentors I've found through internships) I have become pretty familiar with how circuits work and I'm looking to push myself to learn even more.

Internships are a pretty huge part of how MET students pursue their passion.  During the past year I have been an intern here at the AS220 labs with James, the manager.  I've helped out a few of the other members in the Lab on some of their projects such as Elliot, who I helped to produce a few of his "Dirtbomb Amplifiers" that he designed.  Along with this I was his assistant when he held a workshop on making this Amplifier from a kit.  On my own I've made some signage for the labs and I also spent a few months redesigning and making my own guitar effects pedal.

I'm also a "musician."  I put that word in quotations because I feel like an instrument player should have a certain amount of creative and technical ability aquired through years of effort and lessons to be considered a full on musician rather than an instrument player.  I don't know if I've met these criteria yet so I'll stick with calling myself a guitarist.  I've been playing guitar for about 8 years now taking lessons from a number of teachers across the state.  I also play bass in a friend of mine's project titled "Animal Body".  I'm constantly tweaking the electronics in my guitars to adjust my tone as well as tweaking effects units.  I love to "hack" and I'm looking to use this course to take this to the next level.
