With an extended background from sales and the hospitality industry, I started working on business development in Sauđárkrókur a small town in Northern Iceland 12 years ago. I came aware of the Fab Lab ideology as I was planning a small workshop for engineering and physics students at the University of Iceland. Instead of developing a new type of workshops, we decided to open a Fab Lab in town, knowing that the support and knowledge within the Fab Lab community was something we could never establish. Although having studied marketing management, I am rather technologically/engineering minded. When it comes to mechanics I can solve most problems, a skill that I had to develop as in this small town I live in, you cant get any professionals to fix your mountain bikes, skies or saxophone. My wife actually thinks that I can fix anything so from time to time I have to fix our dishwasher, cloth-dryer, washing machine or other equipment in the house. My weak spot is electronics and programming, something I expect to gain more knowledge on during these six months of Fab Academy.
