I'm Koen van Os born and raised in the south of The Netherlands. I received his master in precision engineering in 1995 from Eindhoven University of Technology. After my graduation I fulfilled positions at Stork Digital Imaging and joined Philips in 2001. Here I started as technologist in the field of electronic interconnection technologies. Later I was engineering manager at Philips Lumalive for developing LED textiles in wearable applications and combination of LED light with architectural textiles (Philips Large Luminous Surfaces). Since 2010 I explore electronic textiles at Philips Research. I'm responsible for product and process developments with a strong focus on industrialization by bridging the gap between electronic and textile industries. I was project coordinator of PLACE-it, an FP-7 European project. The PLACE-it project (2010-2014) investigated Large Area Conformable Electronics by InTegration in textiles and other soft materials. This project resulted in advanced demonstrators (www.place-it-project.eu) and contributions to commercial products (Philips BlueTouch for example). Currently I'm involved in new concepts based on light emitting textiles developed by a user centric design approach AND becoming a 'maker' by following the FabLab Academy and 'making' a lot!
