About me
Hi! I'm Heaven Whitby and I am the director of the Fort Valley State University Fab Lab, Mobile STEM Programs, and Precision Agriculture programs.
Previous work
I am creating an ecosystem within the state of Georgia that makes innovation more accessible. My current project to advance this mission is to set up a 3 Node Academany program at Fort Valley State University's Fab Lab. As one of Chevron Energy's funded Fab Labs and an 1890 Land Grant Institution, it is exciting to begin to explore more concepts in sustainabile innovation.
3 Academany courses at one Node
I was inspired to attempt a 3 academy node after experiencing three very unique Fab Conferences. At each conference, I encountered unique communities that may be considered by some as on the fringes of technological innovation. I was inspired by their techniques to overcome this. Each community approached this real world problem in a way that allowed their community's identity to remain intact. One way that stood out was the empowerment provided by being presented complex concepts, extremly helpful machines and tools, and autonomy. I think this is something the community I serve can benefit from and hope to present a clear path forward.
