About me
Hi, I'm Nicole, an industrial designer primarily interested in social and sustainable design as tools for generating a positive impact. I'm motivated to create solutions that improve people's lives and promote responsible practices.
Previous projects
I am currently an Industrial design student at Ibero Puebla, I like to do various types of projects where I learn from different disciplines and experiment with new things.
Tlaolli
Tlaolli was born from the needs of small-scale corn farmers in San Mateo Ozolco, Puebla. Through a co-design process, the need for an efficient, practical, and accessible storage system for everyone in the community was identified. The Rotoplas (a type of plastic container) was chosen as the starting point, as it is the current method they have access to and it works well for them. Its operation was redesigned in terms of grain extraction and insertion, adding a rectangular tubular steel (PTR) base so that the Rotoplas is at an ergonomic height and serves as a support for adding the grain from the top. For extraction, a 3D-printed dispenser with a lever mechanism was implemented, which is pressure-fitted to the bottom of the container. These modifications can be adapted to any plastic container, making the storage system accessible to everyone. This project aims to contribute to the food sovereignty of the farmers.
VAIVÉN
VAIVÉN is a modular furniture system developed in response to a need identified in single-person households. These households, with their limited space, often have reduced storage areas, leading to disorganization and chaos. To address these needs, VAIVÉN is based on two theoretical principles: Fogg's behavioral principles, which propose "triggers," such as color, to create new habits; and the principle of verticality in design for small spaces, which seeks to maximize space through the vertical distribution of furniture. To apply each theoretical principle to resolving clutter, various modular furniture designs were created.
