Week 18 - Invention, intellectual property, and income
This week's assignment requires us to explore the concepts of invention, intellectual property, and income generation in the context of our final project development.
Work log
Completed tasks
- Developed a plan to share my work (pending).
- Formulated future opportunities and/or development for my final project (pending).
- Summarised and communicated the essence of my project development.
1. Dissemination plan for my final project.
My plan revolves around producing Journal Citation Report Articles that use the robotic platform as a testbed for sensor suites and control algorithms. As I intend for the development of this platform to be a collaborative effort, I intend to share my work through a Creative Commons License. The project is officially licensed as follows:

2. Future possibilities, how to make them probabilities
The original goal of my project was to develop a robot capable of navigating complex environments autonomously with RTK navigation. But one thing I have been wondering is how can this robot evolve into a search and rescue platform that can be mass produced in a Fab Lab?
3. What tasks have been completed and which remain?
Completed tasks
- Wheel-Leg design.
- Transformation mechanism design.
- UM982 integration with Raspberry Pi Zero 2W.
- PCB Design.
Pending tasks
- Design a new case for housing the electronics of the robot.
- PCB manufacturing.
- System integration.
- RTK navigation.
4. What is working and what is not?
Currently, the Wheel-Leg design and transformation mechanism are functioning as expected. However, RTK navigation still has not been achieved due to signal interference from other sources at Ibero Puebla.
5. What questions need to be solved?
How can we improve the RTK navigation system to reduce signal interference?
6. Planned what will happen and when
In the coming days, I have to finish all that is remaining.
7. What have I learned?
Even though more sensors mean more information from the robot and its surroundings, they also introduce complexity in terms of data processing and potential interference.
