Extra LoRa content

During the years I built several LoRa device.

Here an old deprecated LoRaWAN device measuring temperature. Oxydation and external condition damaged the electronics

BPEX , a paramateric external case, here with a solar pannel

Since Xiao lora modules, I switch to those components. www.seeedstudio.com/Wio-SX1262-with-XIAO-ESP32S3-p-5982.html & https://www.seeedstudio.com/XIAO-nRF52840-Wio-SX1262-Kit-for-Meshtastic-p-6400.html

Meshtastic then Meshcore arrived around 2024. As I am in a remote rural area, I don’t have other LoRa neighbours. And I want to test for future AgriLab devlopments.

Solar Buoy

Here a solar buoy modified to be a reapeter and extend the network for “cheap” ~25$

modification of the solar pannels

With the xiao inserted in the solar buoy.

Measuring the current consumption with a newer firmware for Meshcore

Kite relay

To connect to other, I tried kite during sunny day with adapted wind conditions

Electronic and battery had to be extremely lightweight

Helium baloon

We tried an Helium baloon. The idea was to cover a wide area during an hacker event. Unfortunatelly we weren’t allowed to test inside and have to do the test outside.

And Helium is expensive…

Test from Oostende to Amsterdam

End December 2025, during a short visit in Oostende (Belgium) I sent messages to Henk in Amsterdam (Netherlands) . We suceed to have a few messages traveling more than 220km and about 40 hops with Meshcore.

Setup wasn’t ideal but it suceed .

The 40 hops.

Other hardware

An improved WHY2025 hacker event badge to allow Meshcore, the WHY2025 original badge link https://wiki.why2025.org/Badge . Hardware modifications and software by Peetz0r’s https://peetz0r.nl/badge to allow Meschcore .

And I bought a lilygo system with an epaper screen to test in nomad. Lilgo Tdeck Pro hardware 1.1 : https://wiki.lilygo.cc/get_started/en/Wearable/T-Deck-Pro/T-Deck-Pro.html
