Hello! My name is Andrés Felipe Guarnizo, and I am an innovative and curious engineer, always seeking to learn, create, and share knowledge with my students and community. I currently serve as the Director of the Mechatronics Engineering Program at Universidad Ean, where I lead initiatives that merge education, technology, and sustainability. Additionally, I am an active member of the FabLab at Universidad Ean, where I explore and develop digital fabrication projects with a strong impact on education and industry.

Hobbies & Passions

I have a deep passion for building robots and educational satellites, as well as reading. I find joy in combining technology, hands-on learning, and storytelling to inspire the next generation of makers and engineers.

My FabAcademy Journey

I joined FabAcademy to enhance my ability to design and build impactful projects. My journey into digital fabrication started when I needed to develop solutions while learning about satellites in Japan and Turkey. This passion grew stronger during my latest trip to Puebla, Mexico, where I participated in the FAB24 Challenge. I strongly believe that FabLabs and digital fabrication can empower communities and drive meaningful change.

Technology & Social Impact

What excites me the most about technology is its potential to simplify complex problems and provide solutions for communities that lack access to essential resources. I strive to create technologies that offer a way out, a new opportunity, and hope for those in need.

Key Projects & Achievements

  1. Director of the Mechatronics Engineering Program at Universidad Ean, where I lead educational and technological innovation initiatives.
  2. Active member of the FabLab at Universidad Ean, working on projects that integrate digital fabrication into education and real-world applications.
  3. Worked with young girls in Chocó, Colombia, teaching them electronics and empowering them with STEM skills.
  4. One of the leaders of a JAXA finalist initiative to build the first fully Colombian-made CubeSat.
  5. Led multiple educational technology projects, merging engineering, education, and sustainability.
  6. Winner of the **2022 Best Professor in Educational Innovation Practices**.
Through FabAcademy, I hope to further develop my expertise, collaborate with brilliant minds, and push the boundaries of what I can create. I'm always open to new ideas, partnerships, and discussions about making technology more inclusive and impactful.
