Final Project ideas

My first idea for the final project was developed during a conversation with some students. We have a local student radio broadcasting group that is celebrating the 75th year of the radio station this year. My plan is to build a small radio that is only receiving the local radio frequency and has an AUX-in port (maybe also Bluetooth). When I started to research my final project. I discovered in the GoetheStadtMuseum in Ilmenau a 1966-made tube radio that is named “Ilmenau 480”. This will be the design I am trying to rebuild as a small and modern version with different color variations.

My second idea for a final project came about during a visit to the GoetheStadtMuseum in Ilmenau. During my research, I came across an interesting exhibit. A table lighter from the 18th century caught my attention.

Since I have many electronics assignments at the Fab Academy, it is important to me to add modern functions to the old table lighter that will impress today’s generation just as much as this special craft tool did back then. During my research, I came across a project by PodeKoet. Through his programming work, the lighter can play certain melodies while producing an electric arc. To do justice to the location and history of this table lighter, it would make sense to create an arc in the mouth of the golden lion that plays the melody of a poem by Goethe, such as “Wanderer’s Nightsong”.
