Silicone Mold Making Project

I wanted to create this model.

I started by using a website called meshy.ai to create a model using a picture. The website creates 4 models and I downloaded the best version.

After downloading the model as an "obj" file, I 3D designed a box to create the mold.

After designing, I sliced and 3D printed the box. There are 2 separate pieces to take out the mold easily.

I poured the silicone mixture in.

The hole at the bottom of the box caused the silicone to leak and the model was too big so I wasted a lot of silicone.

Solution 1

I printed the model again but smaller this time and poured the silicone mixture again.

Solution 2

I used play dough to close the leaks and it worked perfectly. There was no leaking at all.

I removed the box to access the mold.

Time to prepare the resin mixture.

I carefully prepared the mixture using this ratio: 3A:1B

I wanted to make the model red so I poured some red ink to make the mixture red. After that, I carefully poured the resin mixture and its time to wait.
