About me

Hello everyone!

My name is Jhasmin, I'm from Peru, and I studied Industrial and Commercial Engineering at Universidad ESAN. Since I was a kid, I've been very interested in technology, science, innovation, and the way new tools can be used to solve problems and improve people's lives.

Fab Lab ESAN

I started my journey at Fab Lab ESAN as an intern, where I was first introduced to digital fabrication and innovation environments. During this stage, I developed practical experience in prototyping, robotics, automation, and process optimization while supporting academic and technical activities inside the lab.

After that, I joined the team as an Academic and Research Assistant. In this role, I became involved in projects related to industry, academia, technology, and innovation. My work includes supporting students, researchers, and entrepreneurs in developing prototypes and innovation projects, as well as participating in training activities focused on digital fabrication tools and emerging technologies. I also took part in academic and innovation-related initiatives, including support for intellectual property documentation and the protection of ideas and inventions.

Over time, our innovation ecosystem continued growing into what is now ESAN R&D Labs, bringing together Fab Lab ESAN and other specialized laboratories into a larger collaborative team. Besides technical and academic projects, I also support project management activities across the different labs.

I’m especially interested in emerging technologies and how they can have a positive impact on people’s quality of life, particularly for children. I enjoy learning new things, working on multidisciplinary projects, and combining engineering with creativity and innovation.

Outside of work, I've recently started traveling more, which has been a new experience for me, and I'm also getting back into swimming after having left it aside for some time. I also really enjoy spending time with my family and loved ones, and I have two little troublemakers at home — my puppies.

How did I discover the Fab Lab?

I first came to the Fab Lab as a student in one of my courses, where we did hands-on activities and projects. The funny part is that I arrived… and basically never left. 😅 I got to know the team and the projects they were working on, and I became really curious about everything happening there. I kept coming back, asking questions, trying new things, and honestly bothering them so much to teach me more that little by little they just adopted me — haha! Later, I had the opportunity to join as an intern, which allowed me to become more involved in projects and learn directly about digital fabrication and emerging technologies. After graduation, that experience turned into an official position, and today I'm part of the team.

What I said about myself in 2025

2025

2025 was a year where I started learning many new things and exploring areas that I genuinely enjoy, especially related to digital fabrication, technology, and innovation. It was also a year of many personal and professional changes, with new responsibilities at work and a lot of learning along the way.

During that period, I also had an accident that temporarily affected my mobility, which made it difficult to keep up with the hands-on pace of Fab Academy while balancing work and recovery at the same time. As a result, my Fab Academy journey ended up taking a little longer than expected, but it also taught me how important it is to adapt and keep moving forward step by step.

At the same time, I decided to make more space for personal experiences outside of work and study. I started swimming again, something I had left aside for a long time, and I also began traveling more with my family. One of the most special experiences was visiting Machu Picchu together, which was something we had wanted to do for a long time.

Looking back, it was a year that helped me grow in different ways — technically, professionally, and personally.

What I can say about 2026

Roman Colosseum

2026 has been a year of new experiences and challenges for me. One of the biggest was deciding to start a new adventure and take my first trip outside the country. During that trip, I also had the opportunity to visit my second wonder of the world — the Roman Colosseum in Italy — which became a very special experience, not only for traveling itself, but also for learning, discovering new places, and thinking about new opportunities and perspectives for the future.

This year has also been important for continuing to grow alongside my dad in our family business, while also continuing my work at ESAN. At the same time, our innovation ecosystem has continued growing through ESAN R&D Labs, which has brought new projects, new experiences, and also a much bigger team now (we're definitely more people than before haha). It has been exciting, but also a big challenge, because the work now involves coordinating and supporting activities across different labs and initiatives.

Another important decision this year was returning to Fab Academy and continuing a process that I had started before. Coming back with more experience, a different perspective, and greater balance has allowed me to enjoy the learning process much more. We still have a lot of work every week (a lot haha), but now with all the energy and determination to finally complete the program.

Overall, this year has felt like a stage of growth, learning, and stepping into new experiences both personally and professionally.
