About Me

Hey there! I'm Lars Hofmann and will participate in this years FacAcademy in Bottrop at the FabLab which is associated to the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences. I have been a part of this FabLab for the last three years but changed this year to a different lab inside the same university.

During my time in the HRW FabLab i didn't really manage to work much with the machines and i feel like there is a lot to learn for me. As i knew who was participating in this years academy it was clear to me, that this was a now or never opportunity which i wanted to take.

My background

I studied at the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences after school and graduated there in 2021 with a degree in energy informatics, which is a mixture of energy technology and computer science. In my final thesis, I used the move of the HRW FabLab to new premises of 600 square meters to create a catalog of measures to enable balance sheet emission-neutral operation. Since then, I have stayed there as part of various research projects because I have a very positive attitude towards the idea and ideals of FabLabs and a great team has come together there.

Outside of work, I like doing sports or being outdoors. For a long time, I mainly played soccer, but an early knee injury led me to discover other sports and activities for a change and I worked as a soccer coach for several years. I love working in a team and also the values that the global FabLab community conveys, so I'm really looking forward to the FabAcademy 2025 adventure!
